Burying our kid sister Evamarie, and Reveling in the Perfect Surf on Friday the 13th of November, 2015. Only to be shocked by the acts of Terrorism in Paris on the same day.

Evamarie was laid to rest on Friday, November 13th, 2015. She is buried with my parents in North Beverly cemetery. Even now, it seems surreal. Time will aid in the softening of pain and sadness. The service at St Richard's in Danvers was very touching. My sister Gale and I shared some memories, my nephew Jesse played a soulful and mournful version of "Amazing Grace", and the most meaningful of all sermons came from catholic priest Father Flanigan.

The priest got it. I've never heard a priest say the things he said. He actually encouraged us to watch and listen for signs. To be aware. I thought that to be a truly compassionate and contemporary view to take. He was tuned into the whole
spirituality of Evamarie and her family and friends. In fact, Janelle (her daughter) had a vivid dream about her mother days before the funeral.

She was the young and beautiful Evamarie that we all remember in Janelle's dream. That had to have been a sign.

One of the last things I did say to Evamarie, was for her to try and let us know, she is
OK and with loved ones. But more importantly, that she is with Jesus. Home with my parents, her nephew Michael, and in the arms of Jesus.

Until we meet again Evamarie, we will be looking for signs.
Sleep tight our dear sweet Evamarie.

And there was a silver lining in the darkness of sadness and madness this week. That was the marriage of my longtime friend Jacko and his bride. Jack and Katie Keefe. Married in the DR in what had to be one of the most romantic and lovely settings. We all wish them a lifetime of happiness and joy.

It's that time of the year. Just in time for the holidays. If any of the surf art is for sale, it would make the perfect gift for any surf oriented family. You don't have to be a surfer to like surf art. You just have to
be part of it.

I will be playing my first solo gig since the passing of my sister Evamarie. The Ralph Fatello Flatbread tour continues. I wrote a song about my sister last summer when she was in the battle of her life. It will be a bittersweet rendition on this day. Hope to see you down at Flatbread on Thursday November 19th, 2015. 6:30-8:30PM.

Now for Some Of My Weekly Global Observances

All the terrible news this week came from Paris France. On the day we buried our sister, and the surf that hit our shores that morning, a terrible event was unfolding in Paris. Once again the ABSOLUTE COWARDS known as ISIS once again killed and butchered hundreds of civilians. The insanity never stops. The only way to stop it is to kill them all. EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM. I mean there is no other way. It has to stop. And all of our allies must join in on the fight. This is the third statement from those cowards in the last week. The Russian airliner, the bombing in Beirut, and now Paris. WAKE UP WORLD.

The headlines in France. Sickening.

This is the kick that sent Ronda Rousey to the mat for good. Holly Holm took Rowdy Ronda out in the second round. She had easily beat her in the first round as well. You have to love the underdog. And...you have to love how karma works. Ronda REFUSED to touch gloves at the beginning of the fight. That's ok, Holly made sure she felt her gloves in that first round. Then she made sure she felt her foot on her neck. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

How many of you saw the fight after? Holly was so jacked up that she wanted a little more action. So KSM jumped in and tried to redeem poor Ronda. But dumb ass KSM got the same treatment as Little Miss Rowdy. I mean look at the poor slob.

Please my friends, enjoy the weekly humiliation of the master mind behind the September 11th, 2001 attacks. The man who was behind the killing of 3,000 innocent civilians. The number two big dog of Al Qeada. Khalid Sheik Mohammed.

* Note to self, must pick up a case of smelling salt at Home Depot.

*CONGRATS JACK and KATIE KEEFE on their marriage!
Rest In Eternal Peace Evamarie Fatello11-7-15

Please send positive thoughts to our dear friend Meghan Evans and family, same with surf photographer Andrew Rebeiro and my dear friend Greg Brooks. Please add Mike Keefe to your list. Mike's a local surfer who has been surfing these parts for decades. Also say a prayer for my good friend Robert Gerard. And please continue to pray for local Hampton surfers Terry Morrison and Rick Fiorentini and their families. Please pray for Dave O'Connor. A good man, a great mentor to so many kids, and a wonderful school principal.
*I'm adding a close dear friend of mine. Marine SSGT George Masten. A combat Marine who served in Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded the purple heart for wounds received in Vietnam in 1967. George is battling cancer. PLEASE say a prayer for him.

Please Support ALL The photographers who contribute to Ralph's Pic Of The Week every week for the last 9 years. **Think about BUYING a HIGH RES Photo from any of the weeks on RPOTW.

Remember my friends... Surfing Heals All Wounds

Pray for Surf. Pray for Peace. Surf For Fun.

Yesterday- Ron Freeman with Fish early 70's.
(Below) There were only a handful of good photographers back in the 60's and 70's. Ron Freeman was one of them. He was also one of the most stylish surfers of that time. Innovative to a fault he was the first in line to try all kinds of surfboard designs. He rode this Fish as well as anyone on any coast. I'm happy that we are still friends to this day, and we get to share waves and photos like we did back in the day.

HURRICANE JOAQUIN

Hurricane Joaquin swept up the eastern Seaboard the first week of October, and gave every surfer from Florida to Nova Scotia some fun sized waves. And...the water temps were amazingly warm. So those of us who call New Hampshire our home, were treated with the same menu. Fun, head high, warm, and hollow surf. The boys and girls were all over this Joaquin swell, like flies on rotting seaweed. The buzz was hi-speed connections. Cell phones, text messaging, IM's, PM's, tweets, and whatever else we use.

The local crew I was with had more than their share. Kody Grondin, Weston Rogers, James Morse, Mike Stanek, Kyle Linseman, Max Fatello, Carter Walsh, Shane Forsley, and a shitload more. The music is by QWILL and Jimi. Check out QWILL at qwillmusic.com Thanks to all the surfers for making this a fun edit. See ya on the next one. Ralph

IF I COULD 11-6-15 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

A song I wrote about my kid sister and her battle with cancer. I actually played this for her last night at the Hospice facility. She is a true warrior, and her valiant fight was noted by all who bore witness to it. Faith, Hope, and LOVE.
*She passed away on 11-7-15
